Shim Files
Official shim files recorded on test samples are generally of the form SHIMXXX.YYY etc. (note capital letters) where XXX indicates the probe used (e.g., TBI, QNP etc.) and YYY indicates solvent. No ending is for CDCl3.
e.g.
- SHIMTBI.ACME (TBI probe, acetone for 600)
- SHIMBBI (BBI probe for flip)
More recent “intermediate” shim files are often written by Facility staff with dates at the end of the name.
These are often the most useful for people to use.
e.g., if the month is May 2005, to read a shim file from that month:
rsh *0505
select from the list if available or try the previous month (rsh *0405) if there are none. These file are also labelled with the probe name.
e.g. tbi.170505 - tbi probe, 17th may 2005 (note small letters)
Shim files are read with the rsh command and written with the wsh command. Please use your own format not the facility naming scheme for storing your own, which you are encouraged to do.
